How InstiWise Verifies Every Listing — And Why It Matters

For most Indian families, school fees and coaching fees are among the largest expenses they will ever make, and among the hardest to research. Information is scattered across hoardings, brochures, WhatsApp forwards and counselling desks whose job is to enrol you. The institutes with the biggest marketing budgets are the ones parents hear about, whether or not they are the best fit.

InstiWise exists to make that research easier: one place to find schools and coaching institutes in your city, see what they offer, compare them, read what other families say, and contact them directly. That only works if you can trust what you are reading. This page explains, plainly, where our information comes from, what our review process does and does not cover, and how you can use InstiWise well.

Where listing information comes from

Listing information on InstiWise comes from:

  1. The institution's own official information — its official website, prospectus or published notices. This is our preferred source for courses, boards, classes, facilities, fees and admission details.
  2. Publicly available business information, such as an institution's address, phone number and map location as published online.
  3. A submission from the institution itself, through our free listing form.
  4. Updates from the institution's owner or authorised representative, once they have claimed the listing and manage it themselves.

Where a detail is not available from a reliable source, we leave it out rather than guess — which is why some profiles show "contact for fees" or have fewer sections than others.

What our review process covers

Every new listing is reviewed before it goes live

A listing submitted through the site is not published automatically. It stays pending until a member of the InstiWise team has reviewed it and approved it. During review we check that:

  • the institution is a real school, coaching institute or training centre, and belongs in the right category;
  • the name, address and city are consistent and the location makes sense;
  • the contact details belong to the institution;
  • the description reads as information about the institution, not as an advertisement or a copy of someone else's content;
  • nothing on the listing is misleading, offensive or unrelated.

Listings that don't meet this standard are sent back or rejected.

The "Verified" badge means something extra

Not every listing carries the green Verified badge. The badge is added only by the InstiWise team, after the institution's details have been confirmed — for example against its official website and through direct contact with the institution. Institutions cannot add the badge themselves, and owners who manage their own listing cannot switch it on.

If a listing is not marked Verified, that does not mean it is wrong. It means we have not yet completed that extra confirmation, and you should treat details such as fees as a starting point to confirm with the institution.

Thin listings are kept out of search

Some listings are still incomplete — for example, a school that has no description yet. We keep those pages available for families who look for them, but we ask search engines not to index them until they contain enough useful information. We would rather have fewer, better pages than a large number of empty ones.

What we cannot promise

Being honest about limits is part of being trustworthy:

  • Fees and dates change. Institutions revise fees, batch timings and admission dates every year. We show the latest information we have, but the institution's own admission office is always the final word.
  • Results claims are the institution's claims. Where a profile mentions toppers or selections, that information comes from the institution. Ask the questions in our coaching checklist to judge them.
  • A listing is not a recommendation. Appearing on InstiWise means an institution has passed our review, not that we rank it above others. Compare several options and visit before deciding.

If you spot something wrong on any listing, tell us through the contact options on the site and we will review it.

How reviews work

Reviews on InstiWise are written by parents and students, and they are published immediately — we believe families deserve current, unfiltered feedback rather than a queue of approved testimonials.

Our team monitors reviews after they go live and removes those that break our rules, such as:

  • spam, advertising, or reviews that are clearly not about the institution;
  • abusive language or personal attacks on named individuals;
  • reviews written by someone connected to a competitor, or by the institution itself about itself;
  • duplicate reviews from the same person.

What we do not do is remove a review because it is negative. An honest, critical review is one of the most useful things a family can read, and institutions cannot pay to have fair reviews taken down.

The ratings shown in search results for a listing are based only on reviews written on InstiWise.

What institutions get

Listing an institution on InstiWise is free. Institutions get:

  • a public profile that families can find by city, board, course or exam;
  • direct inquiries from families, with no middleman taking a commission;
  • the ability, once they claim their listing, to keep their own details — courses, fees, contact information, photos — up to date.

A well-run small institute with a complete profile and good reviews can stand beside large brands on InstiWise, which is exactly what we want.

How to use InstiWise well

Frequently asked questions

Do institutions pay to appear on InstiWise? No. Listing is free, and appearing on InstiWise does not depend on payment. Institutions can choose optional paid plans for extra visibility, but no plan includes hiding or removing fair reviews, and no plan skips our review process.

Why is a school I know missing? We add institutions city by city and cannot cover every one at once. If an institution you know is missing, its management can add it for free, and it will appear once our team has reviewed it.

Why does a listing show old fees? Fees are shown as last published by the institution. Institutions update fees every year, often without notice. If you see an outdated figure, confirm the current fee with the institution — and let us know so we can update the listing.

Can an institution edit its own listing? Yes, once it has claimed the listing. It can update its courses, contact details, fees and photos. It cannot change its review status, add the Verified badge, or edit or delete reviews written by families.

How do I report a wrong or misleading listing? Use the contact options on the site and mention the listing's name and city. We review every report, correct what is wrong, and remove listings that turn out to be misleading.

Help the next family

If you are a parent or student, an honest review of a school or institute you know — what worked, what didn't — is the most valuable thing you can add. If you run a school or coaching center, you can list your institution for free or claim your existing listing to keep it accurate.
